2019

Richard Hills started our concert season in February with a magnificent show, which was much appreciated by our audience.
Richard Hills.
For the first of our spring shows in April, we welcomed both Cameron Lloyd and Damon Willetts to the Woking Wurlitzer.
Naturally, both Cameron and Damon are accomplished musicians, so they performed together on both organ and keyboard.
Our final spring concert bought the sprightly Mark Laflin to the mighty Woking Wurlitzer.
Here’s Mark addressing the audience.
In June we welcomed a very special visitor from the USA in Bill Campbell.
Bill only made a couple of UK appearances, so we were very fortunate he chose to play for us.
2019 USA Young Theatre Organist of the Year (YTOY) won by Aaron Hawthorne
Aaron, who was inaugural UK Senior Young Theatre Organist of the Year winner in 2017, won the USA competition too! Congratulations Aaron, and very well deserved!
Just before the July concert, the Chapter trustees presented Judith Rawle with an orchid to celebrate her recent milestone birthday.  Happy Birthday Judith!
July brought two of our Chapter trustees, Len Rawle MBE and Michael Wooldridge, together for another of their popular duetting concerts.  Here we see Len during his opening session.
Here are Len and Michael during a rare moment when one of them wasn’t playing either the organ or piano.
The concert took place on the 50th anniversary of man first stepping foot on the moon, and this was not lost on Michael who played a couple of well known science fiction themes from Star Wars and Star Trek.  During his audience address, here he is making the Vulcan “live long and prosper” salute from Star Trek.  Simply out of this world!
Our autumn season kicked off in fine style when David Lobban entertained us.  Here we see David with our own Len Rawle MBE during the concert.
David is in his 42nd year as a professional musician, and this was reflected in the range and quality of his concert.
David Ivory was our October organist, and he always has a few surprises up his sleeve.  This time he was a Canadian Mountie!
The second half of David Ivory’s concert featured music from 1950’s movies, bringing back memories of some very special films.
To round off our autumn season and our penultimate show of 2019, all the way from Scarborough we welcomed Howard Beaumont.  Howard performed a wonderfully varied programme, which was loved by our audience and they certainly showed their appreciation for his versatility and humour.
As always Len put together a wonderful Christmas show, with special guests.  Here we see Len duetting with Charley Brighton, with the Wurlitzer Hall displaying it’s full Christmas sparkle.
David Edwards demonstrated some vintage brass instruments too, some going back decades and not that easy to play, but somehow he got a seasonal tune from each of them.
The finale bought together the Wonderful Woking Wurlitzer, the brass and the St Lawrence Chobham Hand Bell Ringers in a traditional sing-song.
